The NHS recently hit a significant milestone

The NHS recently hit a significant milestone in their digital transformation roadmap, taking the form of a new mobile application.

The NHS recently hit a significant milestone in their digital transformation roadmap, taking the form of a new mobile application.

Clients can now check their symptoms using the ‘Health A-Z’ database and get signposted towards the appropriate department to call regarding their symptoms.
The mobile app aims to put patients and service users more in control of accessing NHS services, streamlining various process.

I’m sure at some point we’ve all been here - stuck on the phone, first thing in the morning, in a queue of callers or hitting a wall in the form of an engaged dial-tone.  Trying to arrange an appointment with your GP? Try again in 10 minutes, or half an hour and you might just get a space.  The new NHS app will eliminate the process of having to ring up at 8am in the morning to get first dibs on appointment times and not being able to book in advance.  This will benefit the admin teams at GP practices as well as end users, by supporting their role in managing appointment slots and giving back time that could be better spent within the clinic.

App users can also manage repeat prescriptions, view their medical record and register as an organ donor. Putting this information at our fingertips feels like a long time coming but no doubt will prove incredibly useful for patients, practitioners and the NHS as a whole.

IGS have built bespoke systems for healthcare organisations, including the NHS. The ‘XOPA’ system we implemented for NHS WWL giving them a flexible platform to create staff engagement surveys and send them to multiple trusts.  The system would automatically collate the results and feedback from participants, giving stakeholders and management teams reports highlighting where interventions were needed.  This ensures the quality of care across trusts remains at the highest standards. The case study with more information on this platform can be found here
